What John Is Doing NOW:

John's FOR ALL OF US campaign uses innovative programs to reduce the taxpayer burden by using recovery fees to support the Mobile County Courts and the Mobile County District Attorney's Office.

Worthless Check Prevention/Recovery Saves Taxpayer Money -- $21 million in worthless checks and fines have been recovered for citizens and businesses in Mobile County. Part of the fines paid by the offenders help to reduce the taxpayer burden and fund the District Attorney's Office--money that is used to prosecute serious crimes.(from Mobile County District Attorney's Office).

Restitution/Recovery Saves Taxpayer Money -- Since September of 2002, program has recovered over $2.6 million in delinquent court-ordered restitution, court fees and recovery fees in Mobile County. This money is recovered from offenders and is used to repay victims, fund the courts and fund the District Attorney's Office. This program clears the judges' dockets of recovery cases, allowing them to focus on hearing new criminal cases.

This program is being replicated in District Attorney Offices throughout the state, with Mobile County District Attorney personnel training Recovery officers from all but six Alabama counties.
